Our highly experienced teachers have had formal training in Performing Arts and/or are currently working in the industry.
Kim founded the school in 2019, having recently completed an MA in Text and Performance at RADA. She is a Theatre Director, Writer and Teacher. Recent directing credits include: 30 Minutes (Theatre N16), Indignitas (Cockpit Theatre), My Recollection (Intermission Theatre), Growing Pains (RADA), The Rattlesnake's Kiss (Hen and Chickens Theatre), Bag Lady (Barons Court Theatre). Writing credits include: 30 Minutes (Theatre N16 and Intermission Theatre), Bana and Mary (Original Impact), Growing Pains (RADA). Kim has also directed countless youth musicals and plays for theatre schools and in festivals around Hertfordshire, with the Barn Theatre, Splitz and Stagecoach. Gemma trained at The Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London, and has been working professionally ever since, performing in the UK, abroad and on cruise ships. Alongside performing Gemma also teaches as it's something she is really passionate about, seeing the confidence and knowledge of a young student continue to grow, week after week, gaining an insight into the industry and learning important life skills. Mimic Mini's Teacher
& Main School Assistant
Patsy studies Photography, Media and Business at A level at Monks Walk School. Following on from being a student at the original school for many years, she is now the Mimic Mini's Teacher, after assisting them for two years, and also assists with the main school. Patsy has been dancing since the age of 3 and has completed up to Grade 6 in Modern, Tap and Ballet and has also performed in Jazz and Musical Theatre. Patsy danced for England in the Dance World Cup and gained a silver medal. She has been in many of the Hawthorne Theatre Professional Pantomimes including Sleeping Beauty and Beauty & the Beast. Patsy has a passion working with children and really enjoys working with the Minis and helping them start their journey of growing into experienced performers.
Jade graduated in 2016 from Bodywork Company Studios where she was offered a DADA scholarship to train in professional Dance and Musical Theatre. Jade's credits include performing as a Professional Dancer and Assistant Choreographer for the Hawthorne Theatre in Cinderella and Dick Whittington. In 2017 Jade worked in Mallorca as a comperè and performer for TUI. Her recent credits include touring and performing at the Market Theatre as an actress playing Wicked Wilma for Dick Whittington and also playing the Princess in the Market Theatre's Adult Pantomime in 2018. Abbie is a recent graduate in Dance and Performance from Buckinghamshire New University where she specialised in jazz. Abbie has danced since the age of three and has many ISTD certificates in modern, tap and ballet. She has also taught locally at the Niki and Barbara Dance Academy, Shooting Stars Academy and Expressions where she directed a production of Annie. She also founded an award winning Musical Theatre Society at University.
Show & Admin Assistant
Mary has been involved in theatre for the last four years, helping behind the scenes on a variety of shows including The Little Mermaid, The Wizard of Oz and Spamalot, as well as several pantomimes. She loves sourcing and making costumes (with limited sewing skills!) and is always ready backstage with a safety pin. She likes the challenge of finding and creating props (her favourite tool is her hot glue gun!) and has also been involved with designing and painting theatre sets. Last year she wrote a pantomime, Sleeping Beauty, which was performed by local theatre group Digswell Players in Welwyn, as well as four other theatre groups around the country. She is excited about being part of the Mimic team and is looking forward to being involved in their amazing shows.
Dean graduated from The University of the Lincoln in 2012 with a degree in Film and Media. He has worked in Television for the past six years, in various roles. Most recently Dean has assistant produced the last few series of long-running Channel 5 documentary series GPs Behind Closed Doors. Other credits include: Breaking the Taboo (Sundog Pictures), 24 Hours in A&E (Channel 4), 24 Hours in Police Custody (Channel 4), The Detectives (BBC2) (Channel 4), and Tyger Takes On (BBC 3). Dean has recently begun assisting in youth productions both with Splitz School of Dance and Drama and the Barn Theatre. Dean is also the Technical Director for Mimic Theatre Company.
